Viola Jäger and Jan Ehlert are the new Chief Content Officers of Constantin Film

Munich, May 21, 2024 – Jan Ehlert and Viola Jäger are the new Chief Content Officers (CCOs) at Constantin Film. With immediate effect, the two filmmakers will take responsibility for content for theatrical/film (Viola Jäger) and series/streaming/TV (Jan Ehlert). This also includes the supervision of the Development and Creative Affairs departments as well as all further development of the creative direction. Ehlert and Jäger report directly to Oliver Berben, CEO of Constantin Film.

Viola Jäger, Chief Content Officer for Cinema: „We have the power to touch hearts and change mindsets with good stories. That is the true magic of filmmaking. Breaking new ground takes courage and a team to go with you. I am very grateful to Oliver for this new task and look forward to the many new stories that still need to be found for cinema.“

Jan Ehlert, Chief Content Officer for TV/streaming: „I love television, it is the epitome of entertainment without an off-switch. And that’s why I love working for a company that makes successful productions for TV and streaming across such a wide range. Television doesn’t cure diseases or solve crises – but it gives us the opportunity to tell big, epic stories, spark exciting conversations or simply spend a nice evening at home or on the road. I look forward to working with my team and my great, long-standing colleagues at Constantin to ensure many more good evenings. Because that’s what it’s all about.“

Oliver Berben, CEO of Constantin Film: „The creative heart of our company is now beating even stronger: With Viola Jäger and Jan Ehlert, we have found two extremely strong producers as Chief Content Officers. They will help shape and decide which stories we will tell on the screen in the future. Vio’s passion for good stories and her desire for more diversity will enrich cinema. Jan’s keen dramaturgical eye will give our viewers countless good evenings at home. Together with their teams, they will make an important contribution to Constantin Film. I’m really looking forward to working with Vio and Jan. It’s going to be an exciting and great adventure.“

Jan Ehlert joined MOOVIE in 2000 and established the development department there, initially as a reader and later as a story editor, where he oversaw the ZDF crime series „Rosa Roth“ and the Sat.1 sitcom „Bewegte Männer“. In his 24-year career at Constantin Film, he has realized a large number of successful TV projects as a producer. These include series formats such as „Crime Stories“ and „Shades of Guilt“ for ZDF, based on the stories of Ferdinand von Schirach, TV events such as „Die Hebamme“ for Sat.1 or „Familie!“ and the high-end crime series „The Typist“ for ZDF. Since joining the management board of Constantin Television in 2018, he has produced top-class series and multi-part series for RTL+ such as „The allegation“, „Strafe“ based on Ferdinand von Schirach and „Die Heimsuchung“ as well as „Ferdinand Schirach: Feinde“ for Degeto. His most recent productions include „Achtsam Morden“ for Netflix and „Hagen“ for RTL+.

Before Viola Jäger joined Olga Film as a partner and producer in September 1997, she worked as a script and production consultant for the German branch of the American major Buena Vista International (Germany). Viola Jäger has been Managing Director of Olga Film since March 2009. From 1993 to 1997, she studied production and media management at the University of Television and Film in Munich. She has been successfully producing TV and cinema films for over 25 years and her films have won the German Television Award and the Golden Lola, among others. Her cinema productions include „Vincent Wants to Sea“, „Girls on Top“, „Before the Fall“, „This Crazy Heart“ with Elyas M’Barek and „Asphaltgorillas“ by Detlev Buck. In television, she was responsible for „Die Heiland – Wir sind Anwalt“ for rbb as well as numerous multi-part and one-off films, including the international Netflix success „Faraway“.
